Enterprise tier

The enterprise tier is the top business plan of an AI service, built for organizations: admin controls, single sign-on, a data processing agreement, and, crucially, a commitment not to train models on your data. Pricing is usually per seat, on request.

Most AI services run a ladder of plans: a free tier, a paid personal plan, a team plan, and at the top, enterprise. The enterprise tier isn’t mainly about a smarter model. It’s about control. You typically get an admin console to manage who can use what, single sign-on with your company accounts, a DPA and compliance certifications, and contractual commitments that your conversations are not used as training data and are retained on your terms.

Does a five-person business need it? Often not, and this is where reading the ladder carefully pays off. Many vendors put the key privacy protections (no training on your data, admin controls) in their mid-level team plans too; ChatGPT Business, Claude Team and Google Workspace’s Gemini all sit in that middle ground. Enterprise becomes relevant when you need stricter compliance, custom contracts or hundreds of seats.

Pricing is usually per user per month, with enterprise quotes negotiated rather than listed. Our plan picker compares current tiers across vendors so you can see what your situation actually requires.

Where you’ll meet this

  • Pricing pages of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, usually as the “Contact sales” column
  • Vendor trust and security pages describing enterprise data commitments
  • Your employer’s chatbot, if it shows a Team or Enterprise badge in the corner
